Prairie Hillside Garden is among the demonstration rain gardens at the Wastewater Treatment plant. This garden was planted to demonstrate that even a hillside can be a place to slow the flow of runoff. Deep-rooted prairie grasses catch and hold a significantly larger amount of water compared to standard yard species of grasses like Kentucky Blue Grass. The garden is 1845 square feet and was planted in 2005. This garden had its ups and downs over the years, but has really started to fill in nicely.
